Atlantic Orthopaedic Specialists surgeons Dr. Bradley T. Butkovich and Dr. J. Abbott Byrd, III made a big splash at the 72nd Annual meeting of the Virginia Orthopaedic Society. The annual meeting was held May 3-5, 2019 in Washington DC at the Intercontinental at the Wharf Hotel. At the meeting, the 140 surgeons present selected Dr. Butkovich as the President of VOS and Dr. Byrd was asked to present on a new technique he’s developed to remove broken pedicle screws in the spine.
The Virginia Orthopaedic Society was established in 1933 by the only 9 orthopaedic surgeons in the state at that time. Today the society’s membership numbers 579 orthopaedic surgeons and has met annually since its founding. The society’s mission is to enhance members’ ability to provide the highest quality musculoskeletal care possible and through the society members share expertise and innovation treating a diverse array of musculoskeletal problems.
