Just wanted to take a few moments to comment on the treatment I received recently from Atlantic Orthopaedic Specialists…Dr. Morina is professional, courteous and pinpointed the problem even before I had my MRI done…Belinda is wonderful…She went above and beyond to ensure that all of my questions were answered …Darrell Becker, MA, PT is by far the most experienced, knowledgeable, competent, caring and capable therapist I ever had the fortune to work with. A hearty thanks to everyone from the doctors to the appointment schedulers. They are simply the best.

I have been a patient of Dr. Morina’s since I was in high school and first tore my ACL playing basketball. I am now 39 and I had to have surgery to repair my rotator cuff from boxing. I had heard from people how they are never the same after surgery and how they never regain full mobility of their limbs, so it made me extremely apprehensive about having this surgery done. Well, I decided to go ahead and have it done after ongoing nights of restless sleep due to the increasing pain and I AM SO GLAD I DID! The surgery went very well. Dr. Morina is the best! Afterwards I started my physical therapy at one of the best places in Hampton Roads. I have had physical therapy before at places of my choice, but this time I just went with what Dr. Morina set up, which was Atlantic Orthopaedic Specialists at Princess Anne. I cannot thank the staff in there enough. They are extremely professional and caring from the front desk (Jessica and Heather) all the way to the back. Holly is my physical therapist and the girls (Kelly, Kelcy and Janet) all help with my routines. I feel as though my success is their success. I appreciate them from the bottom of my heart for all they have done and are continuing to do to get me back to my 100% status. I will definitely recommend this office and my therapist to anyone and everyone who asks. My follow up appointment is coming and I graduate from 3 times a week to once or twice a week, but I couldn’t miss the opportunity to acknowledge the staff at Princess Anne. Thanks again to everyone for making this process an enjoyable one. I would say painless, but pain comes with the surgery and healing. ☺ Outside of that pain… You all ROCK! Much thanks & love,
Kevin Griffin was born with cerebral palsy, a condition which frequently affects normal usage in the hands of those challenged with it. People that have this disability often suffer from deformities of the joints along with permanently rigid, tightened muscles. This is his story before and after receiving treatment. At Atlantic Orthopaedic Specialists, Mr. Griffin met with Dr. Samuel Kline, a board certified hand specialist who examined him and assessed his functional status. Being left-handed, he was glad to hear that Dr. Kline recommended a procedure that would allow him to gain function in this extremity. On May 9th, Kevin underwent the surgery which consisted of fusing a bone in his left hand and also lengthening a tendon. In a recent interview, Mr. Griffin exclaimed that “The results are amazing. I am now able to do things that I simply could not do before such as; shooting a basketball or gripping something … anything”. He knows that he still has some work to do during his physical therapy sessions, in strengthening his hand. However, he is now looking forward to a very bright future and thanks Dr. Kline for his improved quality of life. Kevin later added that “This past Father’s Day I was able to shake my father’s hand for the very first time in my life”.
I want to let Dr. Carofino know that my shoulder pain has gone from a 10 to maybe a 2/3, and I am very pleased with this relief – the injection I received yesterday was on point! Please pass the message to him and give him my thanks!
My doctor has cleared me to return to work but before I do I want to compliment two of your excellent employees, Mr. David Gregory and Ms. Morgan Parker. They have done an outstanding job in assisting me with my post knee replacement physical therapy regimen. For the past month, I have visited your Volvo Parkway facility 2-3 days a week and on each occasion they have proven themselves to be true professionals. Their time and consideration were greatly appreciated as were their congenial personality, professional demeanor, and physical therapy skills. As someone who has over 20 years of customer service experience (both internally and externally) I can state unequivocally that David and Morgan possesses all those desired traits and abilities to be outstanding representatives in providing customer/patient service, support, and satisfaction at the highest level. If they are examples of the type and quality of individuals employed by your company I would not hesitate in the future to suggest and/or recommend Atlantic Orthopaedic Specialists as the physical therapy provider of choice. I am a patient of Dr. Donato and Dr. Kline. I am writing this letter to express my appreciation for the tremendous service that I have received! I know that superb service should be “business as usual”, and that is to be expected. However, the level of service that I have received exceeds that or normal expectations. I feel like I need to take just a moment of your time and share my feelings about the care I have received over the past 8 months with Atlantic Orthopaedic Specialist. I am a P. E. teacher for the Virginia Beach School system and I injured my back again at the beginning of this school year. Having had 3 previous back surgeries many years prior I knew what to expect in the coming months. This was a workman’s comp case and the red tape with them can be tedious, frustrating, and extremely slow to say the least. I know that Dr. David Clifford went well above what I think most surgeons would do for any patient and in the many months to follow I have developed a great Dr. / patient relationship with him. There were several complications along the way, and during my main surgery. It was obvious to me and my family that Dr. Clifford was both extremely concerned and worried about my health. I have always felt as if he treated me in the same way he would treat a member of his own family. The surgery he performed was a 4 level laminectomy that went well. I did have complications that were out of his control but he took charge and I always felt as if his one and only priority was to get me better. My wife and I both believe that no other surgeons I have ever had before took the extra time or had a calming bed side manner like he has. He often came to my room two times a day to see how I was doing and coordinated with numerous others Doctors to alleviate the complications that had come up. Special kudos’ have to go to Heather who works on his staff. She took all of my calls and set up the testing and scheduling and had all medications called in for me during the long months of waiting for workman’s comp to get their act together. I have always considered myself a happy, easy go lucky type individual but my family has assured me that when I am in constant pain with my back, that easy go lucky guy disappears. Heather often times bore the brunt of my disappointment and frustrations that I was not being “healed fast enough” according to my time schedule, and she did it in such a positive, professional way that I can not say thank you enough for putting up with me. She was always on the ball. I do not feel like the folks who work for the Atlantic Orthopaedic Specialist could possible do a better job than what they did. They were the epitome of true professionals in every aspect of their job. I was always treated with courtesy and respect from all staff members including receptionist and nurses, and especially the great ladies in physical therapy. I have spent a lot of time with those folks the past 8 months and it is obvious how very much each and every one of them loves what they do. They always had a smile on their face and were ready to keep me motivated and moving in the right direction. Quay is just phenomenon at what she does in therapy and if you ever lose her your program will suffer greatly. The facilities at the hospital, and at therapy were first class and state of the art. Dr. Clifford has explained to me that this was not a fix all forever and that I will be having problems with my lower back in the future. In our first office visit he asked me “what it was I thought he could do for me that two previous surgeons had tried to do but failed”. I told him that they had patched me up good enough to make my back last for 20 years and that I was expecting him to do the same. He smiled and said ” OK, lets run some tests and see what we can do”. I knew from then on that I was in good hands.
I know that for now I am recovering well but the future may not be so bright. It is very comforting to know that you guys are there in the future when I will certainly need you again. Once again all my heart felt thanks to Dr. Clifford and the entire staff at ATLANTIC ORTHOPAEDIC SPECIALISTS! Respectfully,
