COPN is Advancing to the House!
Thank you for your help with the Senate Bill to reform COPN laws up to this point. Now, we need your help with the House of Delegates.
Certificate of Public Need (COPN) Laws have been in effect for years. In Virginia, they restrict health care providers from investing in their facilities, services and technologies by only allowing larger providers to make capital improvements to perform certain procedures.
Did you know that a CT Scan or MRI at these larger facilities can cost up to FOUR TIMES what it would cost if smaller providers like AOS were able to provide the same services in their offices? This set of laws prevents private health care providers like AOS from competing with larger providers to bring you the same service at a lower cost in a more convenient location. If passed Virginia State Senate Bill 266 Exception will allow Atlantic Orthopaedic Specialists to buy its own MRI machine to use at certain clinics.
The Senate has recently passed Senate Bill 266, and it is now headed to the House of Delegates Health, Welfare and Institutions Committee. It is more important than ever to show our support of COPN reform by contacting our state delegates TODAY! This bill is scheduled to be heard on Tuesday, February 20th.
What COPN Reform Means to You:
- AOS will be able to provide more services at a lower cost to you
- You will have added convenience of finding a location, time and access when you need it
Do the right thing today and make your voice heard.
