Austin C. Nabet, DO, FAAOS
Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon

Born in Long Island, New York, Dr. Nabet relocated to the Charlotte, NC area as a young child. After graduating high school, he began his healthcare journey gaining experience as an EMT-paramedic while obtaining his undergraduate degrees in Biology/Chemistry at Pfeiffer University. He was awarded a US Navy Health Professionals Scholarship, earning his medical degree at Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine at Virginia Polytechnical Institute in Blacksburg, VA, and completed orthopaedic residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) here in the Hampton Roads area.

He went on to complete an operational tour at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Naval Hospital Twentynine Palms, CA as the base orthopaedic surgeon. Following, he completed subspecialty training in Adult Hip and Knee Reconstruction at the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopaedics at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, MD, and returned to NMCP as one of the joint reconstruction sub-specialists. During his military service, Dr. Nabet had the pleasure of training the next generation of residents as associate professor of surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, he served as Vice-Chair of the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery Committee working to standardize rapid recovery muscle sparing joint replacement techniques, he performed the first robotic total knee replacement at NMCP, and authored multiple peer reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and has presented research at multiple meetings. He proudly served his country for 12 years of active service.

Dr. Nabet, and his wife Brianne met while she attended Eastern Virginia Medical School and live in the Norfolk area where they enjoy raising their two sons, Cruze and Hayes. To relax, Austin enjoys spending time with family and friends, outdoor sports, and a humbling round of golf.
