WNBA player, JJ Quinerly Undergoes Successful Knee Surgery with Dr. Butkovich

Professional athletes rely on expert sports medicine care to return to peak performance after injury. Dallas Wings rookie guard Ja’Naiya “JJ” Quinerly underwent successful knee surgery following an injury sustained during a game against the Los Angeles Sparks in August, 2025 which sidelined her for the remainder of the season.

A proud Hampton Roads native, JJ is a graduate of Lake Taylor High School in Norfolk, Virginia, where she built an impressive high school basketball career before going on to compete at the collegiate level for West Virginia Mountaineers women’s basketball at West Virginia University. Her journey from local standout to professional athlete reflects years of dedication, discipline, and resilience.

Her procedure was performed by Dr. Bradley T. Butkovich of Atlantic Orthopaedic Specialists (AOS), board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine & Arthroscopy.

Advanced Cartilage & Meniscus Repair

JJ’s surgery included an osteochondral allograft procedure, a cartilage restoration technique used to repair damaged joint surfaces, along with meniscus repair in her left knee. These procedures are designed to restore joint integrity, reduce pain, and support long-term knee function — particularly important for high-level athletes.

JJ is is expected to make a full recovery ahead of the 2026 season. You can read the full release from the Dallas Wings here: https://wings.wnba.com/news/jj-quinerly-undergoes-knee-surgery
