Atlantic Orthopaedic Specialists Add OrthoNow Location, Offer Telemedicine Option, Temporarily Extend Walk-In Clinic Hours in Response to Influx of Urgent Care Traffic

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Atlantic Orthopaedic Specialists (“AOS”), Hampton Roads’ largest orthopaedic group, today announced extended availability of their OrthoNow walk-in clinics. AOS will increase its OrthoNow services to Hampton Roads residents by opening an additional location and temporarily offering all day walk-in services, effective immediately. AOS has also facilitated the ability to see some cases over a telemedicine option.

AOS OrthoNow clinics were originally established to offer after-hour orthopaedic care from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM in three locations. These OrthoNow clinics are equipped to treat non-life threatening orthopaedic injuries such as sprains, strains and possible fractures and to perform x-rays, bracings, and castings.

In response to an influx of traffic to urgent care centers, and in an effort to help alleviate some of the congestion in emergency rooms across Hampton Roads, AOS will temporarily extend the opening hours of their OrthoNow clinics to 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM Monday – Friday, effective immediately. (Edited: OrthoNow Effective Hours as of 8/16/2021 Monday – Friday vary per location, please visit www.atlanticortho.com/orthonow/ for the most current closures and availability).

AOS has also expedited the rapid launch of a fourth OrthoNow clinic location at the Princess Anne Health Complex with the same schedule.

“Even during these very turbulent times, orthopaedic injuries can still occur,” says AOS President, Dr. Chad R. Manke. “We want to offer a safe, viable alternative to urgent care or emergency facilities for orthopaedic patients who aren’t experiencing flu-like symptoms and would like to limit their possibility of exposure. Equally important to us, we would like to offer an outlet for strained emergency rooms and urgent care centers at this time.”

“We are committed to taking the proper precautions to ensure the safety, health, and peace of mind for our patients and staff.” continues Dr. Manke. “We will be adhering to the recommendations from national and state level health organizations and monitoring patients, visitors, and staff for recognized symptoms of COVID19, including elevated temperature. In addition, we are working to minimize contact between patients with the option for patients to be notified from inside their own vehicles as opposed to sitting in the waiting room. In some cases, we may even be able to see our patients on video chat.”
