MyChart by Epic – Coming to AOS on May 4, 2026

At Atlantic Orthopaedic Specialists, we are always looking for ways to improve your experience and make managing your care easier.

We’re excited to share that beginning May 4, 2026 we will be transitioning to a new electronic health record system, Epic, along with a new patient portal called MyChart.

What this means for you:

Easier Access to Your Health Information

MyChart allows you to securely view your medical records, test results, and visit summaries—all in one place.

Convenient Electronic Check-in from Your Phone or Computer

You’ll be able to complete forms, verify insurance, update information, and even pay copays before you arrive—saving time at your appointment.

Better Communication & Scheduling

Message your care team, request appointments, and manage your care anytime, anywhere.

About MyChart

You may recognize MyChart, which is also used by Sentara. While we use the same platform, Atlantic Orthopaedic Specialists remains an independent, physician-owned and physician-led practice and is not part of Sentara.

Using MyChart simply allows us to offer a more connected, user-friendly experience and, for many patients, the convenience of accessing health information in one familiar place.

What to Expect:

Action Needed

After May 4, you will receive an email with instructions to activate your MyChart account. We encourage you to sign up so you can take full advantage of these new features. Please note, if you already have a MyChart account through Sentara, you do not need to do anything.

Updated Information at Your Visit

You may be asked to complete updated forms during your next appointment to ensure your information is accurate in our new system.

Temporary Adjustments

As we make this transition, you may notice slightly longer wait times or appointment durations during the first few weeks. Our team is working hard to make this transition as smooth as possible, and we appreciate your patience.

This upgrade is an important step in continuing to provide you with high-quality, coordinated orthopaedic care—with greater convenience and accessibility.
